Not one person can live on his own for much too long. He needs somebody to talk to and to share a lot of things with, for one of the many realities in life are the struggles. Every once in a while, a person comes into a point where he feels so low and talking to somebody is the least that he can do to ease the pain. Here is where giving and getting good advices come in. Some people are so good in analyzing a person’s feelings that he can relate with him after just a few words. On the other hand, there are those who are so good in giving advices that the person who hears what he has to say will immediately feel relieved of his burden. One can never underestimate the power of words and its soothing effect on a person when said right. If a friend comes to you seeking for advice on something, the first thing that you have to do is to listen. Hear what she has to say without you interrupting or saying anything. You’ve got to let her emotions flow. Sometimes, that’s all a person need to do to ease the pain. Sometimes, you don’t even have to give an advice - you just have to be a shoulder to cry on. Listening allows you to empathize. Put yourself in the other person’s shoes and think of the best things to do in his situation. Friends come to friends for advices because they can’t think straight on their own at the presence of a huge dilemma. That’s why they’re counting on you to do the thinking for them this once. And being the good friend that you are, you have to deliver. Another important thing about giving advices is weighing all the options. To give an advice means choosing an option for your troubled friend. You have to pick the right path for him to take. Consider his interests, needs, and personality. Select him an option where he is sure to be happy and content after the storm is over. Some people give advices professionally. These are the people whom you can see if you need to be enlightened by their wisdom, experience, and know-how. With the number of problems and issues that counselors tend to solve on a daily basis, you can almost be sure that they have heard it all. You can trust them to give you a good advice at any time of the day. Advices are normally sought but not necessarily followed. One can ask for an advice at any place and time but at the end of the day, it is still he that would make the final decision. If you’re truly unsure, hear out what people have to say and consider it. Analyze the pros and cons of their advices. And when you are confident enough, bring yourself to a good decision.
